The Mendocino County Library Mobile visited Instilling Goodness Elementary School on Thursday, September 28, bringing along a delightful collection of picture books, chapter books, and 3-D wooden puzzles for students in grades K-6. Students had the opportunity to borrow these books for 4-6 weeks and return them to their local library. It was a special occasion, as many of the students signed up for their very own library cards.
The afternoon began with the elementary school boys eagerly exploring the library mobile. They each picked out a variety of books that piqued their interest, and it was not uncommon to see them leave with a stack of five or more books to take home.
Following this, the K-2 students gathered to enjoy a read-aloud session led by the librarian. They actively participated by responding to questions asked during the read-aloud. Smiles lit up the space as they settled down with their chosen books and chatted happily about what they were reading.
In the final group, the 3-6 grade girls perused the rolling carts filled with chapter books. Some students couldn’t wait to tackle the 3D wooden puzzles and began working on them immediately.
The afternoon concluded with students leaving the library mobile, each clutching a handful of books in their hands. Their faces radiated the pure joy that comes from discovering new titles and stories to devour. This event would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of Ms. Mark, who organized the event, and the invaluable support of the librarians from the Mendocino County Library. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all those who made this enriching experience possible.
